Apollo Beach, located on Canaveral National Seashore, is full of history. The Canaveral National Seashore was created in 1975 and was part of a parcel of federal land that acted as buffer zone for the nearby NASA space center. NASA today still owns land in Apollo Beach that is cared for and protected by the National Park Service. Parts of Apollo Beach are usually closed for safety and security reasons whenever there is a Space Shuttle launch from the nearby John F. Kennedy Space Center.
